Have you sought fertility treatment before? Why did you choose Dr. NeeOo W. Chin as your fertility expert?:
My husband and I wanted to start a family right away after marriage in 2018. In 2019, I was diagnosed with endometriosis. I went through a surgery to remove it and was immediately referred to a local fertility clinic. We went through 3 IUIs and no success. My husband reached out to a urologist, and I continued my research with fertility clinics. I stumbled upon Dr.Chin’s name in multiple responses to a post I made in an IVF group. I thought I’d give him a try. I told my husband this was going to be the last place we try, at least for a while because I was just emotionally and physically spent. I made a consultation the next day and that night at small group in church, I was sharing my story and told them our next step to see Dr. Chin, and she mentioned she had just talked to another couple in the church and they went to see Dr. Chin and had a wonderful experience and success. This just felt so right and I felt a sense of relief wash over me. I truly felt I was led to see Dr. Chin.
What were your expectations going into it?:
At the start of my fertility journey in 2019 you could say I was so optimistic and thought I just needed a little support in getting pregnant. By the time I met Dr. Chin in 2023, it felt like my hopes and dreams of becoming a mom were getting out of reach. I was just thinking he would be another doctor and we would hear the same thing, and just be a number. I was so mistaken. I walked out of our consultation feeling a sense of peace, hope had risen back up but he was very straight forward and I felt like he truly listened and we were on the right path now.
Can you summarize what treatments you received and your experience with Dr. Chin and the team?:
After our consultation in March 2023, we began the IVF process in July 2023.IVF is an expensive and all-consuming process full of so much detail and precise scheduling. I was overwhelmed at first with the amount of medication, timing, and how quick things were potentially going to happen but our nurse, Haley and Dr. Chin were incredible! Mika was always willing to answer questions, she was thorough in explanations and helped calm my nerves when things didn’t go as planned, because there were times things didn’t work out, but she was amazing through it all.
Were you able to conceive?:
Yes. We were so blessed to do a frozen embryo transplant on my parents anniversary and on my moms birthday two weeks later, I was able to tell her I was pregnant!
Did you opt for additional treatments like acupuncture or hormonal treatment? If so, tell us about them.:
During the transfer, I had acupuncture to help ease nerves and take away pain that I experience during pelvic exams. I had never had acupuncture before and was a bit nervous for the whole transfer process and acupuncture needles, but Dr. Chin was so good at it and it truly helped me calm down.
Any final thoughts?:
I am so thankful for Dr. Chin, Hayley, Mika and the whole staff at Fertility wellness. From the moment I first stepped in those doors, the calmness and environment of the facility was a breath of fresh air, the receptionists were so welcoming and helpful, all the nurses were always willing to answer questions and provide support and reassurance. I am so blessed to have had the experience with Dr. Chin. He is straight forward, extremely knowledgeable and warm-hearted. I am so thankful for everyone at Fertility Wellness for helping make my dreams of being a mom come true. I can’t wait to come back when we are ready to try another transfer.
